The Township of Huron-Kinloss is serviced by three local fire departments – Lucknow & District Fire Department, Ripley-Huron Fire Department and Kincardine Fire Department.
These fire departments respond to a variety of different calls:
Fire responses: (structural, vehicle, agricultural);
Motor vehicle accident responses: (extrication of victims, First Aid, stabilizing victims and removing them from the vehicles, assist police in protecting the scene and traffic control, clean-up of liquid spills such as gasoline, oil, etc);
Medical responses: usually life threatening conditions, (trouble breathing, possible heart attack, seizures)
Other responses not included in the above: carbon monoxide activations, natural gas leaks, fire alarm activations, hazardous material spills, burning complaints, unknown odours, public assistance, as well as Mutual Aid if required by another fire department as determined by our Mutual Aid Agreements.
The Ontario Provincial Police are the local police for the area. Their office is located at 700 Kincardine Avenue in Kincardine.
The local ambulance station is under the control of the County of Bruce. The nearest station is located in Kincardine at 369 Lambton Street.
As per the Emergency Managment and Civil Protection Act, R.S.O. 1990, the township maintains an Emergency Management program which includes an Emergency Response Plan, training and public education.
