NWMO Community Investment Programs

NWMO Sponsorship and Donations Program

The NWMO Sponsorship and Donations program was created to help small, local initiatives that support the well-being of communities and support for local municipal, First Nation or Métis initiatives up to $3,000. We have a strong focus on collaboration in our work and we want to ensure that we are supporting events, activities and causes that have strong interest and support from others in their community. To make sure there is lots of opportunity for others to contribute, the NWMO will only fund up to 30 per cent of an ongoing (e.g., annual) program or event

This program is meant to help small, local initiatives that support the well-being of communities. It is not meant to fund local businesses, individuals or typical operations of municipalities, bands or other levels of government (e.g. town infrastructure, maintenance services, etc.). It is also not intended to support staff social events. Initiatives involving political, religious or controversial causes are also ineligible. Additionally, we cannot consider requests for retroactive funding, multi-year agreements or scholarships through this program. For further information contact Paul Austin at paustin@nwmo.ca

NWMO Early Investment in Education and Skills Program

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Nuclear Waste Community Advisory Committee has partnered with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) to provide a program to help build capacity for Huron-Kinloss residents  to participate in the Adaptive Phased Management (APM) Project were it to come to this community. The program includes investments in training and education to equip community members, including youth to work at the Centre of Expertise, and in subsequent site preparation, construction and operation. These investments are intended to include transferable skills that could be applied to other projects or workplaces.
