Ripley Minor Hockey Committee
The ice is in! Welcome to another exciting season of Ripley Minor Hockey! RMH is a small yet enthusiastic group of volunteers and each season our executive is challenged with making some very difficult decisions. A decision that might be right for some, may not be perceived as being acceptable to others. In the end, we try to do what is right for the majority of the registrants in the organization. It is our goal to provide a meaningful hockey experience for all participants.
Thanks to the generous support of local sponsors and the Township of Huron-Kinloss we can sustain smaller teams and an abundance of ice time to provide greater opportunity for players and skill development.
Our executive works hard to provide hockey for all ages. We welcome our first time registrants! Early registration (remember last April?) allows the RMH Committee to take a look at the numbers over the summer months. We encourage early registrations; most of our registrants take advantage of this opportunity each spring. Sometimes, lack of registrants restricts team compositions. Wherever possible, we strive to provide Rep or LL entries in the WOAA, OMHA, and OWHA. We also work with neighbouring hockey organizations in Lucknow or Kincardine to provide hockey for all.
Try-outs are a difficult time of year for all volunteer coaches. Separating the registrants in Rep or LL levels is not easy at any age. It is probably the most difficult task of the entire hockey season. Both levels receive equal ice time and opportunities.
Thank you to everyone who has offered to coach or assist this season. We realize the time and effort involved and appreciate your dedication (especially those snowy late night drives in play-off season). Thank you to the Parents Auxiliary and Arena Staff who worked hard to keep the Booth open and the ice and facility in tip-top shape. We are fortunate to live in a community where volunteers young and young-at-heart step up to get the job done.
This is my first year as President and I look forward to the challenges and experience. Our Executive works together to provide hockey for all. Feel like you need a night out? The Huron-Kinloss website updates Ripley home games so you can follow your favourite team and enjoy the action at the rink and cheer on the Ripley teams.
