General Information
Dog Tags
Dog tags are available
for purchase at the municipal office. Starting in 2007 we
are mailing out your dog tag and invoice to you at the beginning
of the year if we have you in our database.
Cost for a license for
the first dog is $15.00 before March 1st. After March 1st tags will
be $25.00.
Pursuant to By-Law 99-21, no owner of a dog shall allow or permit
such dog to run at large in the Township of Huron-Kinloss. The By-Law
also stipulates that every person who owns, harbors, possesses or
is in control of any dog shall remove forthwith and dispose of any
excrement left by said dog on any property in the Township, other
than the premises of the owner of the dog. Certain beaches have
been posted as dog free, and we would ask that our four legged friends
be kept off of those beaches.
A little common sense goes a long way. Not everyone is a dog fancier
and certainly no one wants to be faced with cleaning up after dog
that is not their own. Keep your dogs on a leash when out for a
stroll and keep a baggie handy.
Lawn Watering
From June 1st to September 15th lawn watering is restricted to
the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for those properties serviced
by a municipal water supply. Further, only odd numbered properties
may water on odd numbered days and even numbered on even days. There
are exemptions for newly sodded or seeded lawns. If you are aware
of properties violating this by-law, please leave a message with
the By-Law Enforcement Officer.
Licenses
Marriage Licenses may be obtained through the municipal office.
Cost is $100.00.
Huron-Kinloss will provide municipal certificates for significant
anniversaries and birthdays.
Mail Boxes
Mailboxes should be erected
so that the bottom of the box is 1.05 m above the shoulder of the
road. The face of the box should be in line with the edge of the
shoulder or not less that 1.5 m from the edge of the pavement. Mailboxes
should be made of steel and attached to a wooden post with a top
not larger than 150 cm. The Township of Huron-Kinloss accepts no
responsibility for improperly erected mail boxes. Mailbox users
are required to repair mailboxes damaged by snow impact.
Open Air Burning
Open air burning shall not be permitted unless approved, or unless
such burning consists of a small confined fire, supervised at all
times, and used to cook food on a grill or barbecue. Agricultural
activities are exempt.
Winter Parking
Parking is prohibited on any highway or boulevard between November
1st and April 30th between the hours of 1am and 6am. The fine is
$35.00.
