Public Works
The Township Public Works
Department is responsible for roads, snowplowing, garbage collection
and disposal, water and sewers. Remember, good roads require good
drainage. Prior to altering any road side ditch, please contact
Hugh Nichol, Director of Public Works. If you are installing
a new entranceway to a property an entrance permit is required.
The Township will not be held financially responsible for any damages
to a home owners property deemed to be on Township road allowance
when performing their daily maintenance operations such as snow
plowing and grass cutting. This includes, but is not limited to,
damages involving fences, mailboxes, entranceways, and entrance
signage.
The Public Works Department no longer provides the service of grading
laneways.
The Public Works Department
does not engage in snow removal operations between 6 pm and 5 am
unless under emergency situations. Plowing, sanding, and salting
shall take a predetermined route. Overnight parking is not allowed
on Township roads or boulevards from November 1st to April 30th.
Public Walkways are for pedestrian travel only. No motorized vehicles
such as golf carts, ATV's or dirt bikes are allowed.
Speed limit enforcement is an OPP issue.
Construction projects involving roadwork, watermain and storm sewers
are an essential part of maintaining our infrastructure system.
During these times of inconvenience we ask for your patience and
understanding.
The Township has established an "Adopt-A-Roadway" program
for environmentally conscious citizens to contribute to a cleaner
and more beautiful Township of Huron-Kinloss roads system.
