Due Dates
The Township of Huron-Kinloss
issues two regular tax notices each year, as well as supplementary/omitted
notices for additions in assessment. Regular tax due dates are;
Interim Billing
(Based on 50% of the previous year's total taxes)
March
1st and June 1st
Final Billing (Assessment
multiplied by the tax rate, less the interim billing)
September
1st and December 1st
Payments
Payments must be received
by the due date.
- Tax payments can be made in person at the Municipal Office,
21 Queen St Ripley, Interac services are available.
- Mail your cheque or post dated cheques to Box 130, Ripley, ON
N0G 2R0
- Make your payment at the Ripley Branch of the Royal Bank.
- Preauthorized payment is available. Contact the office for a
sign up form.
- Telephone/Internet banking is available through the following
institutions; Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal, CIBC, Scotia Bank,
Tel Pay, TD-Canada Trust.
- An after hours drop box is located outside the office to drop
off cheques.

Service
Penalty
Tax payments must be
received at the office by the due date. Penalty will be applied
to delinquent payments the day after the due date, regardless of
the post marked date on the envelope. Please keep this in mind when
submitting taxes by mail. Due Dates: March 1, June 1, September
1, December 1.
Assessment
Assessment of all properties
is handled by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).
For information on assessments visit www.mpac.ca
Property owners who believe
their assessment value is incorrect can ask for a Request for Reconsideration
from MPAC at any time throughout the year. This form is also available
in the documents section to download. If satisfaction is not
reached between the two parties, a formal appeal can be made to
the Assessment Review Board (ARB). The deadline for this type of
appeal is March 31st each year. Appeal forms are available at the
municipal office. The Ombudsman of Ontario released a report
on his investigation into the processes of MPAC on March 28, 2006.

Tax Rebate/Relief Programs
There are several programs
available to provide relief for eligible seniors, disabled and charities.
Please contact the municipal office, if you feel you may qualify
for one of these programs.
Commercial Vacancy Rebates
Properties within the commercial or industrial
class that have had vacant units for at least 90 consecutive days
during the year may apply for a rebate. Applications are available
at the municipal office or downloadable form available in the documents
section.
