The Property Standards By-Law 99-124 is a minimum maintenance standard by-law which receives its authority under the Building Code Act and applies to all properties located within the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
All property owners are required to repair and maintain their property in accordance with the standards in the by-law. The standards are prescribed to ensure the health and safety of township residents, and to ensure that residents take pride in their property and their neighbourhood.
The enforcement of it may be broken down into the following basic criteria:
- If it's broke- fix it!
- If it used to be there- replace it!
- If it no longer required- remove it!
The object of a Property Standards Investigation is to obtain compliance with the By-Law.
If a property is noticed or reported to be in contravention to the by-law an ORDER TO REMEDY may be issued. Compliance to the ORDER will be monitored or will be enacted by the Township at the expiry date on the ORDER at the property owner's expense if no appeals are received.
If you are aware of properties in violation of this by-law please contact the By-Law Enforcement Officer at 519-395-3844.
