Ripley Huron Community Centre

The Ripley-Huron Recreation Department is continuously offering
courses and activities throughout the year. Some courses include
First Aid, CPR, and Basic Rescuer for anyone and Babysitting courses
for children. Some programs include the free parent / Tot /and Senior
skating during the Winter, and for those skateboarders come and
try your tricks at the Skate park beside the Ripley-Huron Community
Centre which is free and open all summer for your daring pleasure.
The Ripley-Huron Community Centre is located on Queen St in Ripley.
The Community Centre includes the ice surface from October till
March which is the home of Ripley Minor Hockey, Ripley-Huron Skating
Club, Ripley Ringette, and hopefully the Ripley Wolves Senior Hockey
team this winter.
Public Skating is offered every Saturday and Sunday and
is often sponsored by a local business or Community group so that
everyone gets to skate free while the sponsoring business or organization
is recognized in the newspapers, community calendar, and the Township
of Huron-Kinloss website.
Once the ice is removed the concrete finished floor is used throughout
the summer for various community dinners, weddings, stag & Does,
ball hockey, indoor soccer and every Monday night shuffleboard is
played. The ten shuffleboard courts are the finest around for a
nominal cost of two dollars per person per night. The Arena floor
itself and the ten acres surrounding this facility is home to the
Famous and very successful Ripley Fall Fair on the Last Saturday
in September.
The Community Centre also has a Hall upstairs with a capacity
of 258. This hall is also used for smaller weddings and socials
in addition to Tai-Bo style fitness classes throughout the fall
and winter months. This hall has a fully serviced kitchen and is
fully accessible with the Elevator. The hall upstairs also has four
windows four foot by eight foot overlooking the ice surface for
a fantastic view of hockey games in the winter months.
The social room downstairs has a capacity of 101. This room
is used regularly for various community groups but is ideal for
the quaint wedding, family reunion, birthday parties, and anniversaries.
This social room has a state of the art kitchen attached and also
services the functions on the Arena Floor and is outfitted with
a ten burner double oven gas stove, commercial dishwasher, coffee
perks, and enough plates, cutlery, and serving dishes for three
hundred of your closest friends. This room has often been rented
along with the ice surface in the winter months for the Ultimate
Birthday party at a very reasonable rate.
