Huron-Kinloss Nuclear Waste Management Symposium
Friday, August 10, 2018 8:30a.m. – 2p.m.
Ripley Huron Community Centre
Huron-Kinloss residents are invited to the Huron-Kinloss Nuclear Waste Management Symposium, to learn more about Canada's plan for the long-term management of used nuclear fuel. This plan, called the Adaptive Phased Management (APM), will identify a site to safely contained and isolated Canada's used nuclear fuel in a deep geological repository (DGR). There are currently five communities still participating in the site selection process, of which Huron-Kinloss is one.
The Symposium will offer residents an opportunity to view different NWMO exhibits, learn about the multi-barrier system that will contain the used nuclear fuel and hear presentations from NWMO experts on the following topics:
- Used Nuclear Fuel
- Deep Geological Repository and the geology of Huron-Kinloss
- Safe Transportation
- Assessing Safety
- Selecting a Site
Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Breakfast and registration begin at 8 a.m. followed by NWMO presentations.
Registration is now closed.
