Urban Grass & Weeds

All properties within the Township of Huron Kinloss must be maintained to certain standards. The Urban Area Weed and Grass Cutting By-Law 2003-40 states grass and weeds must be cut whenever growth exceeds 20cm in height.

If a property is noticed in contravention, a registered letter will be sent with a compliance date noted. If compliance is not reached, the Township of Huron Kinloss will ensure the property conforms at the property owner(s) expense.

Noxious Weeds:

Landowners are advised that pursuant to the Weed Control Act, 1990, noxious weeds growing on their property must be destroyed. Noxious weeds not destroyed by the landowner can be destroyed by the township with the related costs being billed to the landowner. The Weed Inspector for Bruce County is Ken Goldsmith who can be reached at 519-534-2092 ext. 107.

Giant Hogweed has not been declared a noxious weed by the province at this time but is becoming a problem in the Township of Huron Kinloss. Please see the related information sheets and pictures of this plant before coming into contact with giant hogweed.
