Bale Wrap

We are part of the Cleanfarm initiative and will recycle bale wrap, silage bags, bunker cover, and baler twine.  All items must be in Cleanfarm bags which are available at the Huron Landfill. 

Batteries

Single-use batteries can be brought to the Scale House at the Huron Landfill site at 2087 Concession 6 E and they will be shipped to a recycling facility.

Blue Box Recycling

The recycling blue box schedule is every other week and this garbage & recycling map shows each of the sections. Please have blue boxes out by 8:00 a.m.  If your pick-up is missed, please call them at 1-800-794-9770. 

Blue boxes may be purchased at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen St, or Huron Landfill site, 2087 Concession 6 E.

Green Cone Digesters

We offer Green Cone Digesters for sale to help you cut down on household garbage. Contents from green cone digesters can also help feed your garden! Green cones can be purchased for only $54.60+tax and are available at the Township office in Ripley or the Huron Landfill.

E-Waste - Electric and Electronic Recycling

You can get rid of electric and electronic products at no charge and we have expanded the list of items we will take. Basically anything with an electrical cord or battery.  Click here for the full list. Also, don't forget to wipe your drives, clear your SIM cards, and protect your privacy! 

Household Hazardous & Special Waste

The County of Bruce hosts several Household Hazardous & Special Waste events each year so residents can dispose of hazardous material safely. Residents are welcome at any of the scheduled events which includes one in the community of Lucknow.

Mattresses & box springs

For a fee, mattresses and box springs can be taken to the Huron Landfill where they will be prepared for shipping off site. 

Polystyrene

Styrofoam collection is available at the Huron Landfill, 2087 Concession 6 E.  Residents can place clean and dry expanded polystyrene in the clear plastic bag at the front of the shipping container free of charge. Please see link for details and conditions

Scrap Steel & Appliances

We will recycle any scrap steel with appropriate CFC tags. CFC tags are required for proof that hazardous Freon/coollant has been removed from refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. 

Tires

All tires accept large tractor tires accepted.   

Yard Waste Depots

There are two yard waste depots in the Township of Huron-Kinloss, one at the Huron Landfill and one by the Lucknow soccer fields. Both sites are open seasonally (April - October) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Household garbage, plastic bags, construction material, logs and stumps are NOT permitted.

Yard waste must be in paper bags.

Accepted Yard Waste includes:

  • brush
  • leaves
  • branches
  • grass clipping

Huron Landfill Yard Waste Depot: 2083 Concession 6 E. 

Lucknow yard waste depot: 907 Havelock St. just South of the soccer fields.

Abuse of these facilities may result in the removal of the depots.
