Council Meeting – May 16, 2022 Highlights

There was a virtual Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting on May 16th, 2022 at 7 in the evening  and here are the highlights:

Virtual Meetings

Council discussed their return to in-person meetings and will remain virtual throughout the month of June.

Parks and Recreation

Parks and recreation took centre stage with two separate reports on the night’s agenda.

Parks and Recreation Master Plan

A Master Plan for Parks and Recreation in Huron-Kinloss was presented that sets out to achieve goals of:

  • Promoting active living and healthy environments
  • Seeking to increase physical activity among all age groups
  • Enhancing the overall community quality of life
  • Enhancing volunteer opportunities and participation

The proposal submitted by PRC Solutions was approved by Council and will include community and stakeholder engagement throughout the summer and early fall, with completion set for November of 2022.

Ripley-Huron Community Centre Revitalization

The Ripley-Huron Community Centre Revitalization project is moving forward with Council’s approval of three separate agreements.

  • The design and renovation of the main entrance, dressing rooms, and additional storage area will be completed by Domm Construction.
  • Bluewater Contract will supply and install flooring.
  • Roofing work will be completed by Morgan’s Contracting.

Design and build project details for the renovations were reported to Council in the April 2022 Community Services Status Report.
