Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honoured with Tree Planting Ceremonies in Whitechurch and Point Clark

HURON-KINLOSS, ON: It was a beautiful spring day to honour Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, with two planting ceremonies in Huron-Kinloss on Friday, May 20th.

Two English Oak trees, generously donated by local resident Richard Christy, celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Local officials were on hand to plant trees at the site of the former Whitechurch Hall, and on the grounds of the Point Clark Lighthouse.

Christy took inspiration from The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative, a program focusing on enhancing the environment, sustainability, and planting a legacy that will benefit future generations. Visit The Queen's Green Canopy website to learn more.

The QGC program is part of Platinum Jubilee celebrations throughout 2022. Her Majesty is the first British monarch to celebrate 70 years of service, a milestone event which occurred on February 6th of this year and a string of formal festivities began on June 1st in the United Kingdom.
