Township Receives $300,000 to Support Community Well-Being

April 2018

The Township of Huron-Kinloss will receive $300,000 in 2018 through the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s (NWMO) Exploring Partnerships and Community Well-Being program. As the Township engages in more detailed discussions with the NWMO about future decision-making and the potential for partnership, this funding will strengthen the community’s resources, skills and knowledge.

The funding is intended to support sustainability and well-being in the community as we explore the project and advance the NWMO site selection process.  This funding complements existing Learn More programs made available by the NWMO.

Mayor Mitch Twolan:

“We welcome these investments in sustainability for our community,” said Mayor Mitch Twolan. “As we engage in more detailed discussions with the NWMO, these investments will help us build well-being, and develop the expertise and knowledge to potentially host this project in the future if the community chooses to do so.”
