NWMO completes Phase 1 Preliminary Assessements in Bruce County

The Township of Huron-Kinloss will continue to more detailed study.

NWMO has completed Phase 1 of preliminary assessment for the three communities in Bruce County.  Based on work undertaken the Township of Huron-Kinloss was assessed as having strong potential to meet site selection requirements and has been identified for further study.

Mayor Twolan states:

“Used nuclear fuel is a reality that our generation must take responsibility for,” said Mayor Mitch Twolan. “Huron-Kinloss is looking forward to the more detailed study ahead of us. At the end of the day, the community will decide whether hosting a repository is the right thing for us and, if so, how we proceed.”

The Township of Huron-Kinloss publishes a newsletter twice a year, which is then distributed to residents with their tax bill(s). Please see the right side for our most recent newsletters.
