Implementing Adaptive Phased Management 2018-2022

Canada's plan for long-term management of used nuclear fuel, Adaptive Phased Management (APM) is designed to be implemented in phases over many decades. NWMO continually reviews, strengthens and adjusts the plan in the face of new information, advances in science and technology, input from the public, insight from Indigenous Knowledge and changes in energy and environmental policy.

NWMO  has published Implementing Adaptive Phased Management 2018-2022 an annual update on the plan. The publication is a draft for public comments.

The NWMO welcomes all suggestions and ideas about their work and how they can help you learn more about Canada’s plan for used nuclear fuel. Please share your thoughts by November 30, 2017.

NWMO's Updated Work Plan

The Nuclear Waste Management Organization's (NWMO) proposed next steps in Step 3 of Phase 2 of the Adaptive Phased Management Plan is to begin advancing the site selection process. The focus will be on partnership and to create a strong foundation for future decision making.

The proposed work plan is detailing the objective to identify and agree on common values and principles to guide decisions.

The community will be invited to participate in public information and discussion working sessions. These sessions will take place in Ripley, Lucknow and Point Clark during November and December. During these sessions the public will break out into small groups where they will work together to fill out the work book and questionaire provided.

The information from these sessions would be collected and summarized to create a draft document with the values and principles that have emerged from the working sessions.

Dates for the working sessions will be released in October.

Pre-registration for the working sessions is encouraged.
