No Parking on Streets

The Township of Huron-Kinloss requests the cooperation of the ratepayers regarding the parking of cars and other vehicles, and the depositing of snow on municipal roads during the period in which snow clearing operations are necessary.

Parking is not permitted on any street within the Township of Huron-Kinloss between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., from November 1st to April 30th

Violators may have their vehicles towed.

Neither the Township, nor the “Snow Plow Operators”, will be held financially responsible for any damages to a homeowner’s property deemed to be on Township road allowance when performing their daily maintenance operations. This includes, but is not limited to, damages involving fences, mailboxes, blue boxes, entranceways, and entrance signage.

Please ensure that recycling and garbage are placed in a location so as not to interfere with snow plow operations.

There is no practical way to plow the roads without depositing snow into driveways. Equipment breakdowns and/or delays are inevitable.

Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Carbon Monoxide Safety

How to prevent the build-up of carbon monoxide in your home:

  • Ensure fuel-burning appliances, chimneys and vents are cleaned and inspected by professionals every year before cold weather sets in. Visit to find a registered contractor near you.
  • Ensure vents for the dryer, furnace, stove, fireplace and other fuel-burning appliances should always be clear of snow and other debris.
  • Gas and charcoal barbeques should only be used outside, away from all doors, windows, vents, and other building openings. Never use barbeques inside garages, even if the garage doors are open.
  • Portable fuel-burning generators should only be used outdoors in well-ventilated areas away from windows, doors, vents and other building openings.
  • Ensure all portable fuel-burning heaters are vented properly, according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Never use the stove or oven to heat your home.
  • Open the flu before using a fireplace for adequate ventilation.
  • Never run a vehicle or other fueled engine or motor inside a garage, even if the garage doors are open.
  • Always remove a vehicle from the garage immediately after starting it.

The Hawkins Gignac Act, 2013 proclaims the week beginning on November 1 of each year as Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week. No matter which day of the week it is, November 1 always is the start of Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week.
