Back Forty Bazaar

Township of Huron-Kinloss will be hosting a Back Forty Bazaar (open-air market), on Thursdays from 3 – 7 p.m., alternating locations, one week in Lewis Park in Ripley and the following week in Caledonia Park in Lucknow, running June 20 - August 29, 2024. 

Cost is $15 (plus HST) per week. 

Staff will be in contact upon receipt of vendor application. Payment will not be accepted until vendors are approved.

Vendor Rules and Regulations

The following regulations apply to all vendors.

  1. Vendors wishing to sell at the Back Forty Bazaar must apply in advance by filling out a vendor application. 
  2. Vendors attending the Bazaar must be approved to vend by the Township of Huron-Kinloss in advance of the vendors’ start date.
  3. Vendors selling food at the Back Forty Bazaar are required to register with the Grey Bruce Health Unit in advance and must be approved to vend by the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
  4. Vendors using cooking equipment (ex: charcoal, propane, gas, etc.) must provide details on the application form. The Township of Huron-Kinloss reserves the right to ask for additional inspections as required.
  5. Products sold at the market are subject to periodic inspection by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
  6. All vendors are required to provide a Certificate of Insurance, naming Huron-Kinloss as an additional insured. (COI template is provided to all approved vendors).
  7. Vendors are required to bring their own 10 x 10 ft. canopy and table
  8. Vendors are required to bring suitable water containers or sandbags to hold their canopy in place.
  9. Vendors are not permitted to stake canopy lines into the grass.
  10. Vehicles are not permitted on the grass, at any time, in both Lewis Park and Caledonia Park.

DISPLAYS

  1. Vendors are responsible for setting up and dismantling their display tables. Set up time is from 2:15 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Any spots that are not filled by 3 p.m. may be offered to daily vendors who arrive on a first come, first serve basis.
  2. The Township of Huron-Kinloss will expect vendors to set up their space in a clean, neat, and appealing fashion.
  3. The Township of Huron-Kinloss reserves the right to ask vendors to leave if their space is not kept clean and appealing, if there are complaints about a vendor, or if there is any other suitable cause.
  4. Vendors handling and serving prepared food are required to provide and display hand sanitizer.

DISCRETION

  1. The Township of Huron-Kinloss reserves the right to approve the vendors participating in the Bazaar.
  2. The Township of Huron-Kinloss reserves the right to limit the number of similar items to ensure that the Bazaar maintains a diverse range of products.
  3. In all cases, the Township of Huron-Kinloss will determine, at its own discretion, what products may and may not be sold at the Bazaar.
  4. The Township of Huron-Kinloss reserves the right to relocated or cancel the market due to questionable weather.

CONTROVERSIAL OR POLITICAL ISSUES

Tables displaying material on controversial topics or political issues are not accepted at the Bazaar. Soliciting for controversial or political issues is prohibited. We want all vendors and customers to experience a relaxed, non-confrontational atmosphere.

ALLOCATION OF SPACE

For vendors who have paid for the season in full, we will do our best to offer designated spots, provided that vendors arrive at least one half-hour prior to Bazaar opening.  However, there may be times when factors beyond our control such as overnight parked cars, inclement weather or special events that may force the Bazaar Coordinator to relocate vendors.  Space allocation is at the discretion of the Bazaar Coordinator.

Cost of space for the 2024 season   

  1. Daily rate: $15 (plus HST) per 10ft. x 10 ft. space. (subject to change)
  2. Vendors who require hydro will be charged a surcharge of $2 per day
  3. Please inquire about seasonal rates.
  4. One space cannot be shared by two vendors.
  5. Please make cheques payable to Township of Huron-Kinloss

VENDOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Vendors are responsible for keeping their market space free from refuse.
  2. Empty containers and equipment shall be confined to vendor’s market space.      
  3. It is the vendor’s responsibility to meet the requirements of local health authorities. Please contact Grey Bruce Health Unit for details at 1-800-263-3456.
  4. Vendors are responsible for their own garbage after each Bazaar day.
  5. Do not use public or private trash bins without permission of the owner.
  6. Food vendors are required to provide garbage receptacles for patrons.
  7. Vendors are required to vacate their space within 1 hour of the close of the Bazaar.
  8. Vendors are responsible for their own point of sale system and wifi is not currently available.
  9. Vendors acknowledge they are adequately insured for this event and are encouraged to contact their insurance company to verify coverage.

Township of Huron-Kinloss Duties

  1. The Bazaar Co-ordinator will oversee the activities of the Back Forty Bazaar and collect bazaar fees on behalf of the Township of Huron-Kinloss. In his/her absence an acting coordinator will have the same responsibilities.
  2. The Bazaar Staff has the right to advise a vendor that his/her product cannot be offered for sale.
  3. Disrespectful and unseemly behavior directed toward staff, other vendors, or customers will not be tolerated.
  4. The Bazaar Coordinator is empowered to dismiss a vendor from the Bazaar without a refund.
  5. Property damage caused by a vendor will be paid for by the vendor.

* We do not accept payment until application is approved. You will be notified once your application has been reviewed.

  • Registrations will be handled on a first come/first serve basis until show is full.
  • Receipt of application does not guarantee your acceptance to the show.
  • Once you are accepted into the show, no refunds will be given.
