Algae Harvesting Delay – Huron-Kinloss Beaches

The Township of Huron-Kinloss removes algae from the shoreline to help keep our beaches clean and enjoyable for residents and visitors.

This work is currently delayed along Huron-Kinloss beaches.

There is a large amount of natural debris, like wood and sticks, along the shoreline. The harvesting equipment cannot pick up this material. It is designed to remove algae only and is limited to the first 16 feet from the water.

We’re continuing to monitor conditions. Weather, especially strong west winds, may help move this debris away from the water’s edge and allow harvesting to resume.

We appreciate your patience as we work to maintain safe and enjoyable beaches for everyone.
