Notice of Meeting to Consider
A By-law to Stop up and Close a Public Highway
and Declare certain lands Surplus to Township needs
Section 34(1) of the Municipal Act
TAKE NOTICE that notice is given pursuant to the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Huron-Kinloss requirements related to the disposal of Township lands and the permanent closure of a highway. The Township proposes to dispose of Parts 1-13 of Plan 3R-10912, as shown below. The intention of Council is to sell the property to abutting landowners as outlined in report CLK-2024-03-13, which can be found on the Township’s website.
The property has not been declared surplus to the Township needs at this time. Lands declared surplus are to be conveyed to those individuals as accepted by Council in accordance with confidential agreements of purchase and sale.
Prior to any surplus declaration, Council must adopt a by-law to stop up and close Parts 1-13 as referenced
The Council of the Corporation of the Township of Huron-Kinloss shall consider the by-law to stop up and close and surplus declaration not earlier than at their meeting of:
Monday, June 15, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
In the Council Chambers of the Township of Huron-Kinloss,
21 Queen Street, Ripley, ON.
PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The Township of Huron-Kinloss is proposing to stop up, close, declare surplus and convey certain lands to abutting property owners to resolve unintended encroaching by landowners on municipal lands following the resolution of a dispute under the Boundaries Act, related to the lawful location of an original road allowance on a section of lands.
WRITTEN COMMENTS must be received by the Township no later than Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 1:00 pm to the attention of the Clerk by email clerk@huronkinloss.com, mail or by using the drop box located at the Township Office. Please be advised that your comments will form part of the public record; your communication and any personal information therein will be made available to the public (i.e., e-mail address), unless you expressly request its removal.
