As we head into the fall season, there are plenty of opportunities to stay informed, get involved, and connect with your community. This month, you'll find updates from across the Township and information about upcoming events, programs, projects, and services.

Please note that the Ripley-Huron Community Centre will also be closed on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9, 2026, due to scheduled electrical upgrades. Township staff will remain available and can still be reached by phone during this time.

Addressing Council
If you would like to address Council, please send your correspondence in writing with your full name to the Clerk at clerk@huronkinloss.com.
Members of the public who wish to make presentations to Council on their own behalf or on behalf of an organization may complete the Delegation Request form on our website. Each delegation is allotted 10 minutes to speak with Council.
Municipal Election 2026
The 2026 Municipal & School Board Election will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026. Voting will be conducted using a secure internet and telephone voting system from October 19 to 26, 2026.
Voter Registration and Updates
It's not too late to register or update your voter information.
As of August 13, additions and changes to the Voters' List can no longer be completed online through the Province's Register to Vote service and must now be processed through the Township of Huron-Kinloss. If you are not registered to vote, have recently moved, or need to update your information, please contact the Township or visit the Municipal Office at 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
To be added to the Voters' List, electors must visit the Municipal Office in person with acceptable identification and fill out a Form 24 (EL15) - Application to Amend the Voters' List.
Certified Candidates
The nomination period closed on August 21, 2026, and the Notice of Certified Candidates was published on August 24, 2026. The Official List of Candidates is available at huronkinloss.com/election.
Voters are encouraged to learn more about certified candidates by contacting them directly, visiting their websites, social media channels, or attending local all-candidates meetings.

Point Clark Lighthouse
There's still time to visit one of Huron-Kinloss' most iconic landmarks before the season ends. The Point Clark Lighthouse is open daily until September 7, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Climb the Lighthouse's 114 steps, explore the newly renovated museum, and browse the gift shop while experiencing the history of this National Historic Site.
Advance booking is encouraged, although walk-in tours may be available.
Ladies Rec Hockey
Looking for a fun way to stay active this winter? Ladies Rec Hockey returns to the Ripley-Huron Community Centre for women aged 25+.
The season begins October 18, 2026, with games held Sundays from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Registration opens September 1, and new this year, players can choose to drop in for $15 per game.
Active Living 55+
Community Living Kincardine & District's Active Living 55+ program offers free activities that help older adults stay active, social, and connected in Huron-Kinloss.

Lucknow Recreation
Lead Learn to Skate Instructor Needed
The Lucknow & District Recreation Department is seeking a Lead Learn to Skate Instructor. Without an instructor, the program will not be able to run this season.

Road Construction
Road and infrastructure improvements continue throughout Huron-Kinloss this fall. Current projects include:

Park Street, Ripley – Construction continues and remains on schedule for completion by October 31.

Concession 12 Bridge Rehabilitation – The road between Sideroad 20 and Sideroad 25 will be closed for approximately two weeks during September.

Sideroad 10 Culvert Rehabilitation – The section between Concession 12 and Kincardine-Huron Boundary Road will be closed for approximately two weeks during September or October.

Lucknow Sports Complex – Parking lot paving is planned before the end of September.

Other paving projects – Road improvements in Lucknow, Point Clark, Guest Avenue, and other locations are planned before winter.
Please expect occasional delays in construction areas. Schedules may change due to weather or contractor availability. Thank you for your patience as we continue to invest in Township infrastructure.
Hazardous Waste Collection Day in Lucknow
Looking to safely dispose of household hazardous waste? The next Bruce County Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be held in Lucknow on:

Accepted materials include paints, chemicals, oils, batteries, fertilizers, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, propane tanks, and other household hazardous waste.
Yard Waste Depots
The Township's Yard Waste Depots remain available throughout the fall season and are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until mid-November, weather permitting.
Accepted materials include:

Leaves, grass, and garden clippings in paper bags

Brush
-
Small branches under 6 inches in diameter

Huron Yard Waste Depot – 2083 Concession 6 E. (east of the Huron Landfill)

Lucknow Yard Waste Depot – 907 Havelock Street (south of the soccer fields)
Please note that logs, stumps, construction materials, household garbage, and plastic bags are not accepted.
Fall Hydrant Flushing
Residents in the Lakeshore Area Water System, from Point Clark to Huronville, may notice temporary changes to their water service while the Township completes its annual hydrant flushing program from October 5 to November 6, 2026.
During this time, you may experience:
- Temporary water discolouration
- Fluctuations in water pressure
- Increased sediment in water lines
If your water becomes discoloured, remove faucet screens and filters and run cold water taps until the water runs clear.
To help prevent staining, avoid washing white or light-coloured laundry between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. while flushing is taking place in your area.
Hydrant flushing is an important part of maintaining the municipal water system and helps ensure water quality and reliability for residents.

Back to school means back to routine. As families settle into busy fall schedules, take a few minutes to make fire safety part of your routine too:

Stay attentive while cooking during busy mornings and after-school snack times

Charge phones, tablets, and laptops using the proper charger

Keep exits and escape routes clear of backpacks, shoes, and sports equipment

Watch for children walking or biking to school and always stop for school buses
Lucknow Firefighters' Breakfast
Enjoy a great breakfast, support your local fire service, and meet the firefighters who help keep our community safe at the annual Lucknow Firefighters' Breakfast.
The Lucknow & District Fire Department welcomes the community to join them on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Lucknow Fire Hall, 725 Campbell Street. The breakfast is by donation.

Property Tax Tools and Services
Looking for an easier way to manage your property taxes? Sign up for e-billing to receive your tax notices by email, or enroll in a pre-authorized payment plan for convenient automatic payments.
Residents can also update their mailing address, use the Property Tax Estimator to help plan ahead, and access property tax information online.
The next property tax due date is December 1, 2026.
