Notice of Certified Candidates Available for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election

The Township of Huron-Kinloss advises that the official Notice of Certified Candidates for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election is now available.

Certified Candidates

The official Notice of Certified Candidates, signed by the Clerk in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, is available below.

Offices to Be Elected

The 2026 Municipal Election will elect:

  • One Mayor
  • One Deputy Mayor (acclaimed)
  • Five Councillors

Council members are elected at large, meaning eligible electors across the Township vote for all Council positions rather than representatives from a specific ward.

Eligible electors will also vote for School Board Trustee candidates, where applicable.

For information about candidates, electors are encouraged to contact candidates directly or visit their websites and social media channels, where available.

All-Candidates Meetings and candidate debates may be organized by individuals, community groups, media outlets, service clubs, businesses, or other organizations. Information about upcoming events may be available through the event organizers.

Voters' List and Voter Information Letters

If you need to add your name to the Voters' List or update your voter information, you can contact or visit the Township of Huron-Kinloss Municipal Office beginning September 1, 2026.

Eligible electors on the Voters' List will receive a Voter Information Letter (VIL) in early October with the information needed to participate in the election.

When and How Can I Vote?

The 2026 Municipal and School Board Election will be conducted using telephone and internet voting. This will be the fifth municipal election in Huron-Kinloss to use telephone and internet voting.

Voting will take place from 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026. Eligible electors can cast their ballot by telephone or internet during this period. A Voter Help Centre will be available to answer questions about the voting process and provide access to a computer kiosk for online voting.
