You’re invited: Public Meeting to consider proposed changes to the Township of Huron-Kinloss Zoning By-law

May 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street, Ripley, Ontario


The purpose of this application is to complete a housekeeping amendment to the Huron-Kinloss Zoning By-law 2018-98 as amended, which will apply to the entire Township of Huron-Kinloss. The proposed provision amendments, among others, would improve clarity, consistency, and alignment with current legislation and practice. The amendments include:

  • Updating and clarifying definitions related to building height, lots lines and yards, street classifications and newer land uses such as additional residential units, stacked townhouses, and on-farm diversified uses.
  • Refining standards for accessory buildings, permitted yard encroachments, parking and driveway design, home-based businesses and setbacks from roads, drains, watercourses and Environmental Protection zones.
  • Clarify rules for additional residential units on serviced and unserviced lots and on farm properties, including unit limits, servicing requirements, location on the lot, and relationship to the main dwelling, consistent with Provincial policy and existing Township practices.

The proposed updates can be reviewed online through the Township of Huron‑Kinloss – Draft Comprehensive Zoning By‑Law Edits. Printed copies are also available for public review at the Township of Huron‑Kinloss Office (21 Queen Street, Ripley, Ontario), Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Comments and opinions submitted on these matters, including the originator’s name and address, become part of the public record, may be viewed by the general public and may be published in a Planning Report and Council Agenda. Comments received after May 14, 2026 may not be included in the Planning report but will be considered if received prior to a decision being made, and included in the official record on file.  

On the day of and during the Public Meeting you can participate in-person in the Council Chambers at the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
