Overview:
The Township of Huron-Kinloss is seeking an experienced, organized, and knowledgeable individual to serve as Drainage Superintendent under the Ontario Drainage Act. The position plays a key role in the administration, inspection, and coordination of municipal drainage projects and maintenance.
We recognize that drainage work is seasonal in nature and are therefore open to a variety of working arrangements. This opportunity is ideal for someone seeking part-time, seasonal, or consulting-based work. Proposals from individuals or firms are welcome.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and oversee municipal drains in accordance with the Drainage Act.
- Liaise with landowners, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct site inspections and prepare reports.
- Support the development of drainage reports and court of revision processes.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Drainage Act and related municipal procedures.
- Relevant field experience; Drainage Superintendent training or OMAFA certification required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid G driver’s licence.
Working Arrangement:
This role is not currently structured as a full-time position, and we are open to:
- Seasonal arrangements (e.g., heavier summer work, reduced winter workload)
- Part-time employment
- Full-time employment (work in other municipal departments may be required to fulfill hours)
- Contract work or consulting agreements
- Shared-service proposals with other municipalities
