Who is Eligible to Vote?

To be an eligible elector in the Township of Huron-Kinloss, you must be:

• A Canadian Citizen;

• At least 18 years old on Election Day; and

• A resident, owner, or tenant (or the spouse of an owner/tenant) of land in the Township.

This eligibility includes those residing in cottages or trailers within campgrounds.

Verify Your Information on the Voters List

Changes have been made to allow voters to manage their election information all in one place for provincial, municipal, and school board elections. This unified list helps ensure your details are accurate across all levels of government and prevents delays when it is time to vote.

We recommend verifying your details if you:

• Are a seasonal resident or one of multiple owners of a single property.

• Live in an apartment building or a newer subdivision.

• Have turned 18 since the last election or are a student living away from home.

How to confirm or update your information:

Visit www.RegisterToVoteON.ca to confirm your details or add yourself to the list. Please have proof of identity and residence ready to complete any changes.

While Elections Ontario now manages the general Voters List, school board support is tied to property assessment. Therefore, if you have had a change in school board support, you will need to update your information with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

How to update your support:

Visit www.mpac.ca/schoolsupport to ensure your support is correctly recorded for the upcoming election.

Serving on Council is a meaningful way to represent the interests of your community and contribute to the long-term vision of Huron-Kinloss. Nominations for municipal office will be accepted at the Huron-Kinloss Municipal Office beginning May 1, 2026.

Candidates Information Session

Understanding the requirements of a municipal campaign is the first step toward a successful candidacy. Bruce County will host an information session to provide important details for those wishing to run for Council or support candidates through third-party advertising.

• Date: Thursday, May 14, 2026

• Time: 6:00 p.m.

• Location: Bruce County Office (30 Park Street, Walkerton)

• Purpose: To review campaign regulations, filing requirements, and the responsibilities of elected officials.

Huron-Kinloss uses telephone and internet voting to ensure that all residents—including our seasonal neighbours and those traveling—can cast their ballots conveniently and securely from any location.

Please note that there will be no paper ballots.

Voter Information Packages

To participate, you will need the secure credentials that arrive by mail.

• Delivery: Packages will be mailed in October to all registered electors.

• Contents: Your package will contain a secure PIN and instructions on how to access the voting system via any touch-tone phone or internet-connected device.

• Security: This PIN is unique to you and ensures your vote remains private and confidential.

Voter Help Centre (Open During the Voting Period Only)

We are here to support you throughout the voting period. If you do not have access to a device, or simply prefer to vote with assistance, please visit us in person.

• Location: Municipal Office (21 Queen St., Ripley).

• Services: We will provide dedicated voting stations and staff to assist you with any questions or technical needs.
