Volunteers are the backbone of our community, they make a difference in Huron-Kinloss every day. New to the community? Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community, meet new people or even learn a new skill.

Whether you’re looking for a short term project or a long term commitment, there are many ways you can get involved.

Current Opportunities

Volunteer Position: Fall Fair Volunteers

Description: Looking for volunteers to help with the success of the Ripley Huron Fall Fair. Need assistance with set up of the fairgrounds, volunteers for the exhibit hall and to work fair gates into the fairgrounds. We welcome community groups and local youth that need to volunteer for their community hours.

Time Commitment: Last weekend in September. Multiple shifts available to prepare for and volunteer at the Fall Fair.

Volunteer Position: Garden Helpers

Description: We are always looking for volunteers at BBFG! If you like to weed, we have a job for you! If you like to haul wood mulch or compost, we need you! Do you love to harvest fresh produce? We got the perfect job for you! Not into weeding but would like to help with our workshops, plant sale or events? We would love to hear from you! We are always looking for volunteers from May to October, depending on your schedule.

Skills Required for the Position: No skills are required! We love to share our knowledge and experience, so if you are new to gardening and would like to learn, we can help you with that!

Are there any other requirements the volunteer should meet? We have an assortment of jobs that can accommodate skill level, physical ability and time availability of the volunteer. We do require a volunteer form to be completed and signed.

Time Commitment: Completely up to the volunteers availability.

Volunteer Position: Fall Fair Volunteers

Description: Volunteer the day or weekend of fair: Third weekend of September

  • Help putting up fencing or taking it down, help take admission at gates, help run events
  • Help out on a committee such as Parade, Home Craft, grounds, inflatables
  • Help out and become a board member we meet once a month and little more closer to fair. 

Time Commitment: Third weekend of September with multiple shifts available to prepare for and volunteer at the Fall Fair.

Volunteer Position: Friendly Visiting

Description: Friendly Visitors are matched with clients who are seniors or adults-with-disabilities that are experiencing isolation and loneliness. Our Friendly Visitors provide friendship and social connection to relieve the isolation our clients are experiencing. The client and volunteer are carefully matched so that they complement each other in their hobbies and interests. Visits are recommended weekly to provide good company to alleviate experiences of loneliness.

Time Commitment: 1 - 2 hours a few times a month.

Volunteer Position: Event volunteers

Description: Do you like the hustle and bustle of an exciting event? Huron Shores Hospice is looking for volunteers to assist with our fundraising events and community outreach events. We need volunteers to help with our Hike for Hospice, Handbags for Hospice, Catch the Ace ticket sales and other community outreach events. We have various jobs including event setup, selling raffle tickets, community booth coverage, assisting event organizers and clean-up. 

Time Commitment: The level of commitment is up to the volunteer. An events email will be sent out on a regular basis to all event volunteers with the upcoming events and volunteers can commit to events of interest. If you have more time to give, you can volunteer for more events and vice versa. 

Timing: Between April 11 and September 29, 2026

Requirements: We ask that all event volunteers be over 18 and have a form of transportation to get to the events. 

Number of Volunteers Required: Multiple; each event will vary, and more information on the number of volunteers will be included for each event.

Eligible Community Organizations can submit volunteer opportunities to be posted on this web page. To be eligible the organization must be listed in our Community Organization Registry and the volunteer opportunity must take place in Huron-Kinloss or benefit Huron-Kinloss residents. 

To submit an opportunity please complete the Volunteer Opportunity Form. 

The submitting organization is responsible for the content displayed in the listing. Interested volunteers will contact the organization directly. The Township reviews submissions for eligibility and posts to the website within 3 business days of receiving it.
