New Speed Limits, Transition Zones and 4-Way Stop to Be Implemented on Lake Range Drive and Nearby Roads
Council has approved speed limit reductions, new transition zones, and a four-way stop intersection to improve safety on Lake Range Drive and nearby roads.
These updates are based on findings from the Township’s 2025 Traffic Study, which included site visits, data collection, and analysis using national traffic engineering guidelines.
The study assessed road conditions, traffic volumes, and how roads are used today, including increasing residential development and shared use by pedestrians and cyclists.
What You Need to Know
Speed limits are being reduced across sections of Lake Range Drive and nearby roads, with most reductions ranging from 10 to 20 km/h to better reflect current road use.
Lake Range Drive Speed Reductions
- Concession 4 to Concession 8
- 80 km/h → 70 km/h
- Concession 8 to Concession 10
- 60 km/h → 50 km/h
- Concession 10 to Concession 12
- 80 km/h → 60 km/h
- Concession 12 to Saratoga Road
- 80 km/h → 60 km/h
Concession 12 Speed Reduction
- Concession 12 (Lake Range Drive to Highway 21)
- 80 km/h → 60 km/h
New Transition Zones
To help drivers safely adjust their speeds when entering the Lakeshore area, new transition zones will be introduced on approaching roads. Speed limits on these roads will be reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h as drivers approach the Lakeshore settlement area.
This includes:
- Ashfield–Huron Townline
- Concession 2
- Concession 4
- Concession 10
New 4-Way Stop
The intersection of Concession 12 and Lake Range Drive will become a four-way stop.
Implementation Timeline
- By June 18, 2026:
- New speed limit signage will be installed. Updated speed limits will take effect as signs are installed.
- June 25, 2026:
- The intersection of Concession 12 and Lake Range Drive will become a four-way stop.
Why These Changes Matter
These changes respond to increased traffic, ongoing development, and the increase of shared use of Lakeshore roads by drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Lower speeds and transition zones help reduce the risk and severity of collisions.
Drivers are encouraged to:
- Watch for new signage in coming weeks
- Follow posted speed limits
- Slow down when entering transition zones
- Be prepared to stop at the new four-way intersection
- Drive with extra care in the Lakeshore area
