Emergency Preparedness
By getting to know the most common hazards in our community, you can better prepare yourself, your family, your home, and your business for possible emergencies. Know the hazards, make a plan, and be prepared.
During an emergency residents are asked to prepare to be self-sufficient for as long as necessary. At the start of an emergency, first responders and emergency workers focus their efforts on helping individuals that need immediate assistance. By doing a few basic things to prepare yourself, your family, and your business, you can help us become a prepared community. The more planning you do before an event, the better you will be able to cope. Your best protection during an event is having a plan and knowing what actions to take.
The Township of Huron-Kinloss has implemented an Emergency Management Program that includes the following:
-
Identification of critical infrastructure
- Identification of community hazards and risk assessment
-
Annual training for staff
-
Annual exercise to evaluate the emergency plan
-
Public awareness program

Residents and businesses of our community also have roles to play. By doing a few basic things to prepare yourself, your family, and your business, you can help us become a prepared community.
Whether to protect your family or your business, please take some time to consider the risks that we all face and take the right measures to protect what is important to you. Families can be prepared by planning and working together as a team. Before you begin developing your family emergency plan, take a few moments to consider the possible emergencies you could face. These situations and events could affect you, your family or your community. Your best protection in any event is in knowing what to do.
