Winter Holiday Garbage & Recycling Pick-Up Schedule 2025

There will be no collection service on Thursday, December 25, or Thursday, January 1.

For residents with a regular Thursday collection schedule:

Garbage: Collection will take place on Friday of that week.
Recycling: Collection will skip the holiday week; the next recycling collection will occur on January 8.

When is My Garbage Collection Day?

Garbage is collected on a weekly basis. To find your Section Area and Collection Date use the Garbage Collection Map or the table below.

Mondays	Section 1: Lakeshore South (Ashfield boundary to south side of Pine River, including Lake Range Dr & Arthur St)
Tuesdays	Section 2: Lakeshore North (North of Pine River to Kincardine boundary, including Lake Range Dr)
Tuesdays	Section 5: Village of Ripley
Wednesdays	Section 3: Rural east of Lake Range Dr (excluding Bruce Rd 7 & Arthur St)
	Section 4 Bruce Rd 7 & rural east of Bruce Rd 7 (including Silver Lake Rd)
	Section 6 – Rural east of Bruce Rd 1 (Grey Ox Ave to Southline Ave)
Thursdays	Section 7 – Rural east of Bruce Rd 1 and south of Grey Ox Ave, including Village of Lucknow & Hamlet of Whitechurch

What Can I Put in the Garbage?

If the object can be recycled or composted that is preferable to putting in the garbage which ends up in the landfill. If it cannot be recycled, it can go into a large garbage bag for collection. Tips:

Place your garbage bag(s) at the curb by 8:00 a.m.
Each bag should be tagged with a Huron-Kinloss bag tag/sticker.
A bag should weigh no more than 18 kg (40 lbs.)
Be mindful of sharp objects. No one wants to get hurt.
There is no large item pick-up.

How Do I Pay?

Huron-Kinloss has a "user-pay" system for garbage pick up as opposed to a taxation system. This allocates the cost of garbage collection to those who use it. Each bag must be tagged to be picked up. Huron-Kinloss bag tags are currently $3.00 each. Find retailers below.

Household Garbage is collected by Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling (BASWR). If your garbage is missed or you have other questions/concerns please call BASWR at 1-800-794-9770.
